Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Escape Room?

An Escape Room is a game in which a team of 3-6 players must use and manipulate their surroundings to escape an enclosed area or achieve a goal within a set amount of time. Players utilize clues, hints and strategy to complete the objectives at hand. Games are set in a variety of fictional locations, such as prison cells, dungeons and space stations and usually the various puzzles and riddles themselves follow the theme of the room. Players use their eyes, ears and brains to decode clues to reach the finish line.  Players don’t need to know anything about the theme to play the games, and children as young as 10 can play!

What is the FWRB Escape Room Experience?

Taking the Escape Room concept and applying it to a church theme, we have created a unique experience for you.  Utilizing scriptures, church history and maybe a little creative licensing, we have put together a three-room adventure for you.  The Foyer, The Big Room and The Exit Room provide opportunities, to not only be challenged to solve various puzzles and riddles, but learn a few things along the way.

Well, then do I have to be an expert in Church History?

No.  All of the puzzles are designed to be solved without having to know about the church or its history.  When a puzzle is church or scripture related, appropriate clues will be provided so please don’t let this keep you from participating.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just your puzzle solving skills.  Dress casual.  You will not be physically challenged but comfortable clothes are nice.

Are the doors really locked?

Metaphorically speaking, yes.  Once the game begins, you will not be allowed to leave the room and return.  So a bathroom stop before your game begins is advised.

Is there food involved?

Of course.  You know if David’s involved, there will be food.

Do I need to sign up?

It is best you do so we can ensure the right number of people are placed on a team and we have enough time to accommodate all that would like to play.  If you are not sure you can make it and then are able to make it we can make room for you somewhere in the schedule. But please sign up if you can.

How do I sign up?

The easiest way is to visit our website and click the Escape Room link.  You can also email david at david.norcross@hitachi-hta.com or just tell him in person.

You will also need to select a time slot preference.  Once you select your timeslot, please arrive at the church by the time indicated:

                      4:30 – 5:30      Arrive by 4:15
                      5:30 – 6:30Arrive by 5:15
                      6:30 – 7:30Arrive by 6:15
                      7:30 – 8:30Arrive by 7:15

How long will this take?

Each team is given 45 Minutes to make it through the room and achieve the goal.  At the end of the evening, the team with the best time will win a prize.

How will this work?

When you arrive, you will be given a packet of materials.  Included in this material will be a letter explaining why you are here, what you will need to accomplish and why.  You will also have some other materials within the packet that may or may not help you solve the game.  Remember that anything can be clue but not everything is a clue.

Once the game begins, you will enter The Foyer, which you will need to find various objects and solve a puzzle or two, including a code to get you into the next room.  In The Big Room, you will be challenged with several puzzles, again finding codes and objects that will get you into the third room.  In the Exit Room, you will need a few things to get you out and complete the game.

During the course of the game, you will be given the opportunity to receive 3 clues without a penalty.  After your third clue is provided, additional clues will incur a penalty.

Where is it?
